Nobody Cares About Extracurriculars - Part 1

Hey,

It's been far too long. i don't think anyone even bothers reading this but writing it is a good release so fuck it. The topic that catches my fancy today is the peculiar nature of talented individuals.

I find it frustratingly incomprehensible how individuals with a significant amount of ability and potential in extra curricular activities manage to sail through years of being in an institution and yet manage to go largely unnoticed and proceed to being indiscernible cogs in "The Machine".

I realize also that in most cases, its an unfortunate lack of a systematic identification of talents and ability that is to blame. But the way I view it, is that its the responsibility of such individuals to make their talents count for more than merely entertaining guests at home. The want of a structural change in the education system is visible to even the blind but the underdevelopment of extracurricular enhancement is a subtlety that has often been overlooked by the eagle-eyed.

The lack of a support structure is a problem I have been fortunate to only have glimpsed a couple of times in my life but I am acutely aware of the fact that individuals out there are not fortunate enough too have the benefits I did. Just having someone there to say "It's alright. You'll get it next time." means a ton when you walk off stage knowing you haven't managed to give your absolute best. They may be lying through their teeth to make you feel better, but the fact that they deemed you worth taking the effort to lie is encouragement enough.

Enough of a rant for now. I have so much more to say but I will leave that for later.
See you later. Bye!
